Which feed pellet mill should I use for sheep feed?
There are two types of sheep feed. One is a fine supplement and the other is a mixture of coarse fibre feed and fine feed.
Let's talk about fine feed first. Fine feed is, as the name suggests, a particularly fine feed supplement for sheep. This means that the ingredients are all fine feeds. Of course, you would be better off with a ring pellet mill. Ring flat pellet mills are specifically designed for processing fine feed.
Next is the feed mix. The general cattle and sheep feed mix is 7:3 based, i.e. processed to include 70% rough fibre feed and 30% concentrate feed processed into pellets for feeding sheep. The mix is easy to feed and only one material needs to be fed. The ideal choice is the flat-type homogenous pellet mill, taking into account the high amount of rough fibre, the light specific gravity and the palatability of the sheep feed. The principle of supplying flat feed is ideally suited to lighter specific gravity crude fibres with a certain amount of concentrate. Cattle and sheep feed cannot be particularly hard, but must be soft and moderate, so the choice of a flat feed pellet mill is the best choice for processing mixed feed for sheep.
