There are two advantages to feeding whole raw maize grains to sheep: one is that the nutrients in the grains are not lost and the sheep gain weight when they eat them; the other is that you save time and money as you don't have to make the effort to grind them and you save on electricity costs. One thing to note: it is usually best not to use new kernels harvested in the same year for sheep. There is a lot of water in it and it is said to have a harmful substance. Older farmers choose to feed the sheep aged rice kernels, which are more scientific and beneficial to their health.
The coarse kernels are ground into maize oil, which is suitable for feeding lambs and can also be used as mixed feed for sheep. Due to the particular physiological structure of lambs, the whole kernel cannot be thoroughly digested, so it must be coarsely crushed into the shape of maize meal and then mixed with other nutrients and trace elements in the right proportions to produce a concentrated feed with a high nutritional value to maintain the growth and development of the lambs. In addition, large sheep and adult lambs cannot be fed only raw maize grain as concentrated feed, but must also be fed other concentrated feed to achieve a balanced diet. For this reason, coarsely ground maize grains in maize oil are sometimes also suitable for feeding large sheep and breeding sheep.
